About the Campaign
“Heritage is built on the innovations
of those who dared to look ahead.
For 50 years, we’ve provided durable workwear, reliable protection, and solutions that empower workers.
As we mark this milestone, we’re
not looking back with nostalgia,
we’re stepping boldly into the future.
We’ve tackled five key challenges
for end users in the past. Now, we’re envisioning five futuristic concepts
of workwear to inspire and shape the next 50 years. Because the mindset
of one who always strives for improvement is never sentimental,
and the innovator never gets nostalgic” - Snickers Workwear
My Contribution
I contributed to the campaign by designing Snickers Safeguard, an
AI-powered asbestos detection device developed under the campaign’s Safety category, one of the five key challenges identified by Snickers Workwear. Safeguard envisions how smart, connected technology can enhance worker protection in alignment with the European Green Deal and UN Sustainable Development Goals, addressing health risks posed by asbestos in Europe’s building renovation efforts.
Physical work pushes the human body to its limits, making injuries a constant risk. Protecting workers means understanding how the body moves and wears over time. At Snickers Workwear, we’ve always designed to safeguard workers and we’re looking ahead to shape the future of safer, smarter workwear.
Asbestos Detection Device
“As we celebrate half a century, we want to focus on the future rather than getting nostalgic. And what better way to look ahead than by collaborating with the next generation of innovators? That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce William Bo Roskær from Umeå Institute of
Design and his visionary innovation. Concerned that craftspeople might be unknowingly exposed to asbestos, he envisioned an air quality sensor that could alert users to harmful chemicals and risks like asbestos, keeping them safe from dangers they can’t see”.
